Has it really been over two months since the last time I posted a review? Wow! Sorry to have totally spaced lately. But I've been reading. I promise. As you well know, the reading never stops.

To Pleasure A Lady (The Courtship Wars) by Nicole Jordan

Marcus Pierce, a strikingly handsome aristocrat with a wicked reputation, inherits guardianship of Arabella Loring and her two younger sisters–and immediately declares his intention to marry them off. But gorgeously defiant Arabella sparks frustration–and something deeply erotic–in Marcus. After matching both wits and swords with her, Marcus concludes that this beautiful and formidable foe must be his.
Having sworn off marriage and men, Arabella wishes to be left alone to run her finishing school for young ladies. To that end, she boldly accepts Marcus’s intimate challenge: If he can woo and win her within two weeks, she’ll take her place in his bed as his wife. However, if she can resist his considerable charms, the Loring sisters will be granted their independence. Thus an extraordinary game of seduction begins. . . .

Nicole Jordan is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints me with her characters and her books. Arabella and her sisters have no intention on ever marrying. They have lived through the scandel of their parents and didn't want loveless marriages. Arabella was the leader being the oldest and was determined to not marry no matter what Marcus said. Marcus was stubborn, but he cared alot for Arabella and her family. Marcus was just as determined that she would marry him. They started a wager that would determine whether or not Arabella and her sisters would have to marry.
Miss Jordan is a master storyteller and even though you know what is going to happen in the end she always gives you a great ride. I like all of these characters and am looking forward to the other two books. To Bed a Beauty (Courtship Wars, Book 2) and To Seduce a Bride (Courtship Wars, Book 3) Which are book in stores now!

Elijah (The Nightwalkers) by Jacquelyn Frank

SOME FEELINGS YOU JUST CAN’T FIGHT

He is known as the Warrior Captain—a master of every weapon, a fierce soldier sworn to protect his kind from violence. Powerful, relentless, merciless, Elijah has always won every battle he’s ever taken on—until now. Ambushed by Necromancers, he is left for dead only to be rescued by a woman who could very well deliver the final blow…Siena, the Lycanthrope Queen.

For over a decade, an uneasy peace has existed between the warring Lycanthropes and Elijah’s people, and he’s not about to let his guard down now around their queen.

But Siena’s will is every bit a match for Elijah’s own, her sleek and sensual nature waking a hunger within him that he cannot deny. Now, the Warrior in Elijah is consumed with a different battle—winning Siena’s heart by giving her pleasure beyond all boundaries. What starts as attraction and arousal soon burns into a passion with consequences that will echo through the ages for both their people. And as would-be enemies become inseparable lovers, another threat approaches, one with the power to destroy them all…

Surrender to the night.
Just so that everyone knows I have read the first two books and I did love them. I just didn't review them. I have to say that Elijah is my favorite so far. I love how strong he is and in this book watching this warrior fall in love is great. Siena is a strong, proud queen who is Elijah's equal in everyway. Siena was someone that I hoped would be in future books and I'm happy that she was the one for Elijah. They brought in some more new characters in this book like Syreena, Siena's sister who I think is good too. All of these characters add to the stories and I find myself wondering who will end up with whom and what characters would be best together. The next two books are due out this year Damien who is Vampire Prince and Noah who is the Demon King. I can't wait!

Enchanting the Lady (Relics of Merlin) by Kathryne Kennedy

In a world where magic ruled everthing, Felicity Seymour couldn't perform even the simplest spell. It she didn't pass her testing she would loose her duchy--and any hope of marriage. But one man didn't sem to mind her lack of dowry: a darkly delicious baronet who had managed to scared away the rest of Society's misses.
Sir Terrence Blackwell knew the enchanting women before him wasn't entirely without magic. Not only could she disarm his with her gorgeous lavender eyes and frank candor, but his were-lion senses could smell a dark power on her--the same kind of relic magic that had killed his brother. Was she using it on herself or was it being used against her?
One needed a husband, and the other needed answers. But only together could they find the strongest magic of all: true love.

I wasn't really sure when the lady gave me this book what I was in for. This was a great surprise the were-lion thing was great twist. I love that this is all wrap up with Merlin. Felicity was such a sweet character. I really like that she couldn't figure out why Terrence paid so much attention to her. Terrence was great he was very take charge and didn't hold back to get what he wanted. I also thought the other characters made this book. I wanted to know the entire story why everyone did what they did and this story was not a let down. If you like paranormal historical romance this is a must read! The second book (Double Enchantment:Relics of Merlin) is due out in September 2008 and I have it on pre-order.

Freefall by Joann Ross

Seeking refuge, determined to pull her life back together, Sabrina Swann returns to the sleepy Southern island of her childhood summers. The last person she expects to encounter there is Zach Tremayne, the boy who stole her heart when she was a girl. There's a haunted look in his eyes that makes her wonder what kind of man he's become.

Zach can't forget the horror he saw in his last battle in Afghanistan as a Navy SEAL. Now home on Swann Island, he's surprised to realize he can feel anything again, never mind the sudden surge of desire for this woman from his past.

And when together they discover danger waiting in the island's shadows, the woman who is desperate for peace and the man who has sworn off war will find that they are willing to do anything, risk everything, to protect a love neither saw coming...

All in all, I thought this was a good book. The only thing that kept me from giving it a final score of 5 out of 5, was the last chapter or so. The drama and suspense was strung throughout the entire length of the book and then all of a sudden BAM it wrapped in the last two pages. A little too tidy for me but still a really good book.

Sabrina and Zach were both great main characters. At times I felt that the story lines of the supporting characters got in the way just a little bit, though.

This is the first Joann Ross novel I've read, but I'm definitely going to read more of her. The next book in the series isn't due to be published until September (dammit!), but I'll have my copy on pre-order way before then.

The Rest Falls Away: The Gardella Vampire Chronicles by Colleen Gleason

In every generation, a Gardella is called to accept the family legacy of vampire slaying, and this time, Victoria Gardella Grantworth is chosen, on the eve of her debut, to carry the stake. But as she moves between the crush of ballrooms and dangerous, moonlit streets, Victoria's heart is torn between London's most eligible bachelor, the Marquess of Rockley, and her enigmatic ally, Sebastian Vioget. And when she comes face to face with the most powerful vampire in history, Victoria must ultimately make the choice between duty and love.
This was great book. I love Victoria and really wanted her to be with Phillip, but I also wanted her to be a vampire hunter. I like Max too even though he was really giving Victoria hard time about chosing to be with Phillp. I'm not quite sure how I feel about Sebastian, yet. This is a totally different twist than the other vampire series I've read. I really liked this book alot. The next book in the series is
Rises The Night: The Gardella Vampire Chronicles.

Midnight Rising by Lara Adrian

IN A WORLD OF SHADOWS AND DARK, CONSUMING HUNGERS, DESIRE IS THE DEADLIEST WEAPON...

Fueled by pain and rage over a shattering betrayal, the warrior Rio has pledged his life to the war against the Rogues. He will let nothing stand in his way - least of all a mortal woman with the power to expose the entire vampire race. But now an ancient evil has been awakened, and a stunning darkness is on the rise.

For journalist Dylan Alexander, it began with the discovery of a hidden tomb. Suddenly she is at the center of a gathering storm of violence and secrets. But nothing is as dangerous as the scarred, lethally seductive man who rises from the shadows to plunge her into his world of dark desire and endless night. Here she is powerless to resist Rio's touch, even as she uncovers a shocking link to her own past. Now Dylan must choose: Leave Rio's midnight realm, or risk it all for the man who has shown her true passion and the infinite pleasures of the heart...

This is the fourth book in the Breed series. I read the first three in less than a week back at the beginning of February. For some reason, I was thinking that Midnight Rising was going to be available in June. So imagine my surprise when I was trolling the romance shelves at Borders and came across it! I was so excited, I had to call Kecia right then.

I have to tell you, out of all the Breedmates in this series so far, I loved Dylan the most. She had spine, had family (at least one family member), and wasn't sitting around whining about how sad or alone she was. And her "special ability" was pretty cool too. Not the coolest, but definitely up there.

Rio, even with all the scars (make sure you read the first book in the series to find out about that), sounded totally sexy. I'm glad that he was brought back from the "brink of madness" and turned out normal again.

Not too much sex, but just enough. And it was pretty good. :o) The plot on this book carried on where the others left off, very seamlessly. Eventhough a total recap wasn't done, if a reader picked this book up first, they would not be lost as to what happened in the previous books.

The new bad guy and his experiment was pretty interesting. I'm curious as to what happened to him at the end of the book. I can't wait until the next one comes out. According to the Coming Soon section on Lara Adrian's website, there are at least two more books in the series. I wonder if I'll get my Chase book? Probably not next. I'm guessing that one is going to be about Niko.

Go buy this book. And if you don't have it already, buy the rest of the series!

The Accidental Mother by Rowan Coleman

Sophie and Carrie were childhood best friends, but in the last few years they've lost touch. While Carrie chose motherhood in a small town, Sophie is powering up the London career track. She's a corporate manager poised for her next promotion. Sure, she doesn't have much time for men, but she has a great shoe collection and a cat who's never going to let her down.

And then Sophie is told that Carie has died, with nobody left to care for her two daughters, Bella and Izzy, aged six and three. Their father, who left before Carrie's death, is nowhere to be found; their grandmother is moving into assisted living. Sophie once promised Carrie she would take care of her children if the worst ever happened....and now that day has come.

What do you do when you are a child's last hope?

I read the back of this book and just had to read it. Sophie has everything she thought she could ever want. Then this social worker shows up tells that her "best" friend has been dead for several months and that there is no one to take her daughters. The girls are confused and but they know they want to be with Sophie b/c she was close to their mom. Sophie doesn't have a clue as to what to do with two children. Bella and Izzy are sweet little girls and have real personalities in the book. I thought the author might try and down play the part of the children, but she didn't and that made this story worderful. Sophie sets out to find the girls father, but when he finally shows up she's not sure she wants to let the girls go.

This books takes you through the twists and turns. Sophie who didn't want kids and was all about her career learns that there is more to life than work and shoes. She learns what it means to be a true friend and that life doesn't always work out the way you plan it.

To win the woman destined to be his bride . . .

Catherine Depford is the wealthiest heiress in London, and she is all but promised to a proper English lord . . . so why is she having dreams of a Scottish warrior claiming her for his own? She can't imagine that her heated fantasies would come true . . . until she locks eyes with the stranger of her dreams in a crowded ballroom.

A Scotsman will do anything

Highland chief Gabriel MacBraedon has come to London in search of Catherine, the woman an ancient curse dictates to be his bride. But he can't very well sweep the English beauty into his arms and carry her off to Scotland in the dead of night. Or can he? Nothing is impossible when a Scotsman's passion is making the rules.
I really liked this story I got caught up in it right away. There is not alot of sex in this book, but the story was interesting enough that I didn't miss it. I loved that Gabriel knew exactly what he wanted. Cathrine was very independant and knew what she wanted in a husband until she met Gabriel the man in her dreams. The curse was a nice touch she's not sure if she crazy or if he's real.
